YAOUNDE, CAMEROON — In anticipation of a crucial decision to be made by the Government of Cameroon on the renewal of a land lease for a controversial oil palm project, EIA releases today a video that shows how the large-scale project has negatively impacted the lives of thousands of community members, threatened biodiversity hotspots, and failed to meet development promises to local communities in the Southwest region of Cameroon. The video, “The Wrong Project in the Wrong Place,” is the result of a collaboration with local, national, and international environmental groups.

Over the next three days, the 24 members of the Board will consider ten new project proposals. The project and programme proposals have a total project value of more than USD 2.7 billion, with requests for GCF funding totaling USD 787.8 million.

INTERPOL : Enhancing environmental security through cooperation
Established in 2012, the Field Legality Advisory Group is a regional non-governmental organization active in Cameroon, the CAR, the DRC and the Republic of Congo. It works to promote sustainable and rational management of the Congo Basin’s forest resources by supporting the implementation of Independent Observation of forest law enforcement and compliance with REDD+ principles and standards.
As the CBFP is the only existing universal platform for the Congo Basin Forests, the Annual Meeting of Parties (MoP) of the Partnership provides a unique venue for partners to exhibit and reach out with information on their objectives, priorities, programs and activities.

The scale and the means allotted to imports of sawn wood into Chad from Cameroon are little documented. Two surveys were carried out to produce an up-to-date diagnosis of the trade: sawn wood flows were monitored at N’Djamena and Moundou from July to December 2015, and interviews were conducted with 16 people to characterise the import and customs clearance processes in use for timber from Cameroon. According to our survey results, 79,000 m3 of timber entered Chad from Cameroon during the monitoring period, so that the annual total probably amounts to about 210,00

Songdo, 14 Oct 2016 - The Green Climate Fund (GCF) has reached a new milestone today with the approval of USD 745 million in funding proposals at its fourteenth meeting. The 10 projects and programmes have a total value of USD 2.6 billion, and will help 27 countries across the globe to reduce their emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

WWF-CAR seeks a Primate Habituation, Research and Tourism Advisor whose major function will be to provide technical assistance, oversight and leadership to ensure the effective management of the Primate Habituation Programme (PHP), tourism-related activities, and research activities in the Dzanga-Sangha Protected Areas (DSPA), ) and transfer his/her technical and management knowledge and experience to the DSPA staff.


WWF-CAR seeks a Principal Technical Advisor whose major function will be the overall implementation and supervision of its field Programme in support to the CAR Government. They will collaborate for the management of the Dzanga-Sangha Protected Areas (DSPA) and its broader landscape, in its aim to maintain the biodiversity of the south-western forests of the CAR.

With the generous support of The 1001: A Nature Trust, the aim of the WWF Prince Bernhard Scholarships is to provide financial support to individuals who wish to pursue short-term professional training or formal studies that will help them contribute more effectively to conservation efforts in their country.

Implementation conditions, lessons for COMIFAC countries and recommendations on several important aspects including: financing, ambition, the NDCs, adaptation, mitigation, transparency, capacity-building, technology transfer, etc. 

Ideas requested for innovative partnerships aimed at stimulating investment in forests and sustainable land use. The concept notes, describing partnership proposals, must be submitted by October 14, 2016, at the latest.
