Participants at the Second Regional
Workshop on the ITTO Voluntary Guidelines for the Sustainable Management
of Natural Tropical Forests, held on 8–12 May 2017 in Cotonou, Benin,
agreed there was a need to revise the ATO/ITTO Principles, Criteria and
Indicators for the Sustainable Management of Natural Tropical Forests in
Africa.

sector to smuggle protected and endangered animals and animal products

Bonn, Germany, 1 June 2017- Once
abundant, these species are now threatened by unprecedented destruction
of their habitat, poaching, climate change and pollution. Proposals to
afford greater protection to 35 species will be made at what is expected
to be the largest wildlife conference of the year, CMS COP 12, which is
scheduled to take place 23-28 October 2017 in Manila, Philippines.

(MOOC) runs from 31 May through 12 July 2017. It is a facilitated
course, with a certificate of completion provided by the United Nations

| An intact forest landscape (IFL) is a seamless mosaic of forest and
naturally treeless ecosystems with no remotely detected signs of human
activity and a minimum area of 500 km2. IFLs are critical for
stabilizing terrestrial carbon storage, harboring biodiversity,

The number of international migrants worldwide has continued to grow
rapidly over the past fifteen years – reaching 244 million in 2015, up
from 222 million in 2010 and 173 million in 2000.[1] Behind these
numbers is the links between migration and development challenges, in
particular, the consequences of environmental degradation, political
instability, food insecurity and poverty.

ZSL are seeking a Landscape Manager with
extensive and relevant management and technical experience, to ensure
the effective delivery of ZSL’s exciting and rapidly expanding programme
of work in and around the Dja Reserve. The post holder will be
responsible for the development and implementation the programme of
work, managing the associated human and financial resources, leading on
technical and scientific oversight and ensuring a continuity of delivery
of high quality outputs with significant conservation impacts.
Date of training: From 21 to 28 August
2017. Training venue: Abidjan - Cote d'Ivoire. This course aims to
develop innovative approaches and sustainable solutions to hurdles in
supply chains of agricultural raw materials.
The course is suitable for professionals
who would want to deepen their understanding of the HCV Approach or be
part of HCV assessment teams. However, this is most suitable for those
who would want to achieve the HCVRN ALS Lead Assessor qualification
especially for the RSPO and FSC HCV assessments. Equally suitable are
auditors for the various agriculture and forest certification schemes
which HCVs are integrated into their requirements.
The Greening Consumption and Production
Massive Open Online Course runs from 31 May through 12 July 2017. This
FREE, trilingual, six-week facilitated course is hosted by UNDP, in
partnership with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological
Diversity, the NBSAP Forum and The Nature Conservancy. Each week, the
course facilitators will guide you to take online lessons as well as to
read supplemental material, complete homework assignments, and engage
through webinars and online discussions. The course can be taken in
English, Spanish and French.
To support the delivery of its
programmes in West and Central Africa and Eastern and Southern Africa
Regions, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is
launching a new project entitled "Stabilizing Land Use: PA categories V
and VI as landscape mechanisms for enhancing biodiversity in
agricultural land, ecological connectivity and REDD+ implementation". To
enable successful delivery of the project in each of the target
countries, IUCN is seeking talented, motivated, experienced and
visionary persons to fill the position of Senior Programme Officers who
will serve as the National Coordinators.
The Business and Biodiversity Technical
Advisor will be responsible for the management, coordination and
delivery of the Programme's contribution to in-country Africa
conservation projects and grants. In particular, this includes
deliverables for landscape projects in Cameroon, with a focus on oil
palm, rubber, timber, and mining. The Technical Advisor provides
technical support on private sector engagement, industry best practice,
particularly environmental best practice for production, and represents
Zoological Society of London in its relationship with relevant industry
groups and companies.
African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is

World Wildlife Fund, the world's leading
conservation organization, seeks a Chief of Party candidate for the
USAID - funded Combatting Wildlife Crime Project (CWCP) in KAZA and
Namibia, a part of USAID's regional Combatting Wildlife Crime in
Southern Africa Program. The CWCP seeks to counter growing threats from
transnational wildlife crime to globally important populations of black
rhino and elephant in northwest Namibia and the Kavango Zambezi
Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), respectively.
