Yaounde, 16 February 2017: The European Facilitation of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership has officially accepted the Institute of Agricultural Research for Development’s(IRAD) application for CBFP (Congo Basin Forest Partnership) membership.

New collaboration protocol between COMIFAC and RAPAC signed!

The Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC) and the Central African Protected Areas Network (RAPAC) agreed in December 2016 to enter a new collaboration protocol to replace the previous one.



The validation workshop on the regional environmental and social strategy assessment report on the use of the Ngoyla-Mintom Forest took place in Mbalmayo from 2 to 3 March 2017. The opening ceremony was chaired by Mr Arnaud AFANA, representing the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Territorial Management (MINEPAT).

19 January 2017, Davos-Klosters, Switzerland – The Government of Norway is setting up a new fund to kick-start investments in deforestation-free agriculture in countries that are working to reduce their forest and peat degradation.
 
 
 

The Independent Redress Mechanism (IRM) is mandated in paragraph 69 of the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF’s) Governing Instrument which States that “(t)he Board will establish an independent redress mechanism that will report to the Board. The mechanism will receive complaints related to the operation of the Fund and will evaluate and make recommendations.”

Introducing the Citizen Voices for Change: Congo Basin Forest Monitoring Project (CV4C). This 4-year project aims to strengthen the contribution of non-state actors (NSA), such as civil society, Indigenous Peoples and community organisations, to improving forest governance, sustainable forest management and the contribution of forests to development in five Congo Basin countries.

The crisis facing the ultimate global commons – the very conditions that make human civilization and economic prosperity possible – confronts us with the necessity of making our societies and economies more sustainable and less inequitable

In deploying its resources, the Green Climate Fund will work through a wide range of institutions to finance projects and programmes. To access funding, these institutions will go through a process of “accreditation,” designed to assess whether they are capable of strong financial management and of safeguarding funded projects and programmes against any unforeseen environmental or social harm.
 

The Forest Ecosystems Conservation managed by Village Communities and Indigenous Peoples Project in the municipality of Dimako abbreviated in French as PREFOCAD, is an initiative of the Sustainable Alternatives for Development (ADD) organization. It is part of the call for proposals launched by the GEF / SGP in October 2012. Having gained the approval of the National Steering Committee, the project began taking shape with the signing on 10 July 2013 of the Memorandum of Understanding between the GEF / SGP and ADD, to provide a grant of 14,304,500 CFA francs for its implementation from July 2013 to 31 December 2014.
